THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING THE
14th Annual Greater St. Louis
Safety & Health Conference
Your Safety- My Purpose
In the Summer between
her sophomore & junior year,
Kina Repp and her girlfriend
decided to head out to Alaska
to find work that would help
pay for her college tuition.
The plan was to make money
and be part of a great Alaskan
adventure. Three days after
settling into a dorm in South Naknek, Kina’s persistence enabled her to gain employment at an Alaskan fish cannery. She was tasked with cleaning the conveyor belts used in the fish cannery operation. Excitedly responding to a foreman’s orders for someone to clean a large conveyor belt, Kina literally ran over and then quickly responded to the foreman’s next order to “make sure you get underneath.”
What followed was a horrifying chain of events that dramatically changed her life. Kina’s fight for survival began the moment she found herself caught in the moving conveyor belt.
The fact that Kina is alive today to tell her story is a living testament to her strong determination and amazing attitude. Although she had lost her arm as the result of her accident, she didn’t lose her incredible zest for life. Kina leads a very productive and fulfilling life today that is attributed to an attitude that keeps her surviving & thriving in her world without limits.
You should never underestimate the power you have to change someone’s life.
